Frank’s Report – October Colville Ride
On October 19, 20, 21 and 22nd we will be returning once again to Colville, WA for what has become almost annual riding trip. The riding itself takes place about 25 miles (40 kms) from Colville in the Colville National Forest. If you have been to one of our meetings you have heard of us speak of this trip with reverence, (often referred to as Lil Peandre, the name for the ORV riding area). You can download a poster here.
- Trails that lead from your cabin or campsite
- Over 100 miles of groomed, well marked & maintained trails

- An overall inexpensive riding trip
- Coin showers with lots of hot water
- Flush toilets
- Great riding stories and bench racing sessions
Colville, Washington is about a 4 hour drive from Kelowna. There are a few different preferred routes depending on who you talk to. I have found the easiest route to take is the turn off to the U.S. Border just before Christina Lake. Very scenic drive
We will be staying at Beaver Lake Resort which has 10 cabins and a limited number of campsites. There is a forest service campsite located very nearby as well. The cabins are rustic but comfortable with cold water, microwave ovens, propane fridges, hot plate, two twin beds, table chairs, room for cots, etc. Washrooms with showers are located steps away. The cabins are located next to a very small General Store and this year a small bar has been added on. I had mistakenly mentioned to some people that a restaurant had been added, I was in error on this point.
The cost of food and accommodation for 3 nights should work out to less than $100 depending on how many people share a cabin. I have reserved 7 cabins and there are another 3 cabins available at the time of writing.
As with past years one of the reasons to expose people to this area is that it is a great model of what we could have at Bear Creek. We are hoping that people who share an interest in seeing the Bear Creek trail network become more enhanced will consider joining us but the ride is open to those who just want to come and experience something different. The trails are designated by riding level from beginner to advanced so there is something for everyone! Please note that this trip books up fast – if you are interested in coming you should contact me or call me weekdays at 250-491-7887.
If a ride is a problem for you there is generally someone who will have room for you, your bike and gear
Bike, riding gear, tools, fanny pack, protective gear, rain gear (just in case), toiletries, bedding is provided for those sleeping on beds otherwise bring sleeping bags and cots. Towels, toiletries, etc. Ear plugs (Deci Damps)are a very good idea – biggest collection of snorers you will ever find (I’m legendary apparently).
The border crossing at Christina Lake closes at 11:00 pm – so if you don’t want to spend the night at the border – get across before then. The last time we went through the border guards confiscated about $100 worth of meat products – better to buy food and snacks across the border.
The plan is to head down around Thursday afternoon. Some people leave early ,some later. We will be returning Sunday – leaving Lil Peandre mid to late morning.
The first evening everyone should eat along the way. For the balance of the time meals will be prepared. Meals are big and hardy and included. The trade off for doing the cooking is that I don’t do dishes and my bike get it’s annual physical from my bro (thanks Rocko) and Bernie.
We have a lot of fun on this trip. The trip is not limited to men or adults and is not intended to exclude families or from bringing young riders. This is worthy of young people seeing.
Having said this, things get to be like a loud family gathering where,,,,,, well any of you Have a weird Uncle Buck that get s a little loud and has an opinion on everything,,,, ya,,,, well he’ll be there in a Terry Burke costume,,,,,, then you know the “Close Talker”,,, thinks you can’t hear from 1 step away, well that’s my bro Rick (a.k.a. Rocko),,,,, and,,,, well, a whole bunch of other really nice whacko’s who you wouldn’t think get out very much.

If you would like more info on this riding adventure give me a call.
See you on the trails
